Lion Country Safari located in western Palm Beach County is Florida’s only drive through safari.  The safari is located on nearly 600 acres of land and home to roughly 900 animals. The Lion Country Safari is located at 2003 Lion Country Safari Road in Loxahatchee.

The species that live at Lion Country Safari come from all around the world. The safari is divided into seven different habitats.  You will see some of the largest herds of zebras, giraffes, and rhinos on record in the United States.

The safari was founded in 1967 and claims to be the first cage-less zoo in the United States. The safari has won numerous awards and recognitions including the 3rd Best Safari in 2009, One of the Top Ten Drive Through Safari’s, Best Outdoor Activity in Palm Beach County, Top Local Attraction of 2019, and the Certificate of Excellence in 2017 just to name a few.

Lion Country Safari works with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to help save animals from extinction and recovery. Conservation and breeding programs are the conservation for threatened species and helps to ensure the long-term survival of a healthy, sustainable population of threatened species Lion Country Safari is a participant in 35 different Species Survival Plan programs. Lion Country Safari has also hosted SSP workshops for chimpanzees and maned wolves.
