Martin County School Board Picks Start Date

The Martin County School District Board has voted to stay with their original school calendar for the upcoming school year.  Some school board members wanted to push back the start of the school year to August 25th but negotiations with the teacher’s union and the Martin County Education Association were not successful.

Students in Martin County School District will be heading to the classroom for in-person learning on Tuesday, August 11th. Teachers are scheduled to head back to the classroom on Monday, August 3rd.

Parents of students in the Martin County School District have the option to send their children to school for traditional learning or remote learning via live stream. Whichever option they chose will be heading back to school on August 11th.

In Palm Beach County, School Board members voted for virtual learning for the start of the school year. Last week, the school board members voted to delay the start of the school year by three weeks to prepare parents, students, and teachers for the start of the school year through distant learning. An official start date for students in Palm Beach County has not been announced yet.
