Peace and Tranquility - West Palm Beach

Mounts Botanical Garden located at 531 North Military Trail, West Palm Beach is inspiring peace and tranquility. This serene garden experience was created by combining natural elements of stone, wood, and living plant materials.

Here is a hand-carved relief wall is of Indonesian design while other elements are contrived from Chinese, Japanese and other Asian influences. The intention of the hand carved relief wall is to inspire peace and tranquility.  It is a spiritual place for the mind and soul. The explanation of the breathing space is very personal, and in the consciousness and eye of the beholder.

Ever wonder why the gardens are entitled Mount’s Botanical Garden?  For over 40 years, Marvin “Red” Mounts assisted the farming community of Palm Beach County. He was born in Oklahoma in 1898 and raised on the family’s sod farm. After he graduated from agricultural college at the University of Florida in 1925, Mounts was hired as Palm Beach County’s first assistant agricultural extension agent. His area covered 1,261,000 acres.

Mounts encouraged farm families to enlarge their harvests of green beans and tomatoes to include a variety of tropical fruits. He instituted a grass for cattle grazing that held up on damp soil. He collected soil samples and helped identify which nutrients were needed. In his early days on the job, it took “Red” Mounts two days to travel from his office in the county courthouse. Palm Beach County Agricultural Extension Agency moved to Military Trail in 1954.  The new building was named for “Red” Mounts, as was the adjacent Mounts Botanical Garden.

Head over to Mounts Botanical Garden and find some peace and tranquility.  It is a very spiritual place worthy of a visit.
