It is Women's History Month 2021 in the United States and will be honored in Palm Beach County. The month-long celebration is a chance to acknowledge women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.   The City of West Palm Beach will observe Women’s History Month in March. The month celebrates the contributions that women have made to our history in their struggles for social, economic, and political equality and deepens our understanding of our nation’s and our city’s history.

Congress declared March 1987 as the first official Women's History Month.  It has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987.  This year, 2021, the theme for Women's History Month is all about capturing the spirit of the challenging times we are living through. Because of COVID-19, many of the women's suffrage centennial celebrations originally planned for 2020 were restricted. The National Women's Alliance is extending the annual theme for 2021 to "Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced."

At the March 8, 2021 City Commission meeting, Mayor Keith A. James will issue a special proclamation declaring the month Women’s History Month, and the City will host a series of events, coordinating with the Women’s Chamber. The Women’s Chamber begins its month-long celebration of Women’s History Month with a lineup of events leading up to the prestigious Giraffe Awards.  The Giraffe Awards is the Women’s Chamber’s mark event, which recognizes women in Palm Beach County who have “Stuck Their Necks Out” for other women in the community.  To learn more about the upcoming Women's History Month events, please visit this site.
