Clematis Streetscape Project Nearing Completion

West Palm Beach's historic Clematis Street is ready for its close up! The two-year construction project has finally finished up the final stages and residents of Palm Beach County are welcome to enjoy the new streetscape.

From the waterfront to Rosemary Avenue, the $18.8 million dollar streetscape has widened the sidewalks, narrowed the travel lanes and many on-street parking spots eliminated travel lanes to discourage cars and emphasize the on-foot experience on Clematis, an entertainment, dining and shopping focal point for residents, tourists and workers.

There's still work to be done but it's all expected to be complete by the end of October, officials said Thursday according to the Palm Beach Post.

The 600 block will get a minor update, with road milling and repaving, sidewalk work, landscaping, trees and lighting.

With the imminent completion of the $1.8 million Centennial Fountain reconstruction, the final paving stones of the 100 block's streetscaping will be installed. The 400 block still needs benches across from the library and minor landscaping and the 500 block needs a few final pavers.
