
October is the official month of National Pizza Month. Pizza Today Magazine decided to dedicate a month to pizza and chose October. Most everyone in Palm Beach County must enjoy pizza by the number of pizza places in the county. Folks observe National Pizza Month without even knowing it by consuming various types of pizza and toppings.
Modern pizza evolved from similar flatbread dishes in Naples, Italy, in the 18th or early 19th century. The word pizza was first documented in A.D. 997 in Gaeta and successively in different parts of Central and Southern Italy. Pizza was mainly eaten in Italy and brought to the United States by emigrants from there.
