Hosting the Financial Services Expo online rather than in its physical form in November will save 33,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions managing director James Prosser has revealed.

Speaking on a vlog with Brightstar chief executive Rob Jupp, Prosser added that, with the Expo events normally taking place four times a year at London, Manchester, Glasgow and the Midlands, the combined CO2 saving was quadruple that figure at 134,000 tonnes.

The online event will take place on November 9 and run throughout the week with each day focussing on a different area of the market.

The broadcasts will be available to replay, for those who are not able to participate during the week itself.

Outlining the advantages of running the event in this way, Prosser says:

“It’s safe, you don’t have to endure the traffic or travel and the threat of of anything that cities bring, whether it’s Covid or any other issue.

“Most importantly it is CPD [continuing professional development].

“With FCA regulation, they are not going to take it easy just because of Covid.

“This marketplace hasn’t stopped.

“It was parked slightly, but it has come back in an abundance and to be able to be able to continue brokers needs to be up to date with everything that’s going on in the marketplace.”

Prosser says he would love to bring back FS Expo in its physical form in 2021, but all will depend on the pandemic.
