Celebration of the Arts Festival

The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua
The 33rd Annual Celebration of the Arts at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua is a cornerstone cultural gathering that welcomes over 125 of Hawaiʻi’s leading artisans, practitioners, and educators. This year’s theme, “From the Eyes of the Beholder,” explores Hawaiian identity, expression, and resilience through hands-on experiences, storytelling, and live performance.
Attendees are invited to begin each day at sunrise with Hiʻuwai and E Ala E ceremonies led by Iokepa Naeʻōle, a rejuvenating ocean-side ritual of cleansing and chant at Honokahua Beach. From there, the Wehe Ka ʻIpuka (Opening Ceremony) sets the tone with traditional oli, culminating in the presentation of the Namahana Award of Excellence to esteemed cultural kūpuna.
Throughout both days, guests can browse and engage with local artists at the Mākeke (Marketplace), featuring more than 50 artisans, crafters and Hawaiian practitioners from all islands offering their expertise and locally-made treasures and gifts. Panels and workshops range from discussions on Hollywood’s portrayal of Hawaiʻi to shoreline science, plant-based healing, and environmental stewardship.
Evening entertainment will showcase some of Hawaiʻi’s most celebrated musical talents. Friday night begins with the Celebration Music Matinee featuring Kumu Joy Keōpūolani Salvador and Hālau Keʻala Kahinano O Puna, followed by Alaloa Live with Eric Gilliom, a beloved Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning performer known for his theatrical style and powerful vocals. The energy continues with an intimate After-Hours set by Waipuna, a trio known for their fresh approach to Hawaiian music and multiple Nā Hōkū wins. On Saturday night, the festival culminates with the Celebration Lūʻau, followed by an after-party led by the iconic Mākaha Sons, whose rich harmonies and decades-spanning musical legacy embody the soul of Hawaiian storytelling.

29th Annual East Maui Taro Festival

Now in its 54th year, the Maui Marathon returns to its scenic Kā‘anapali course on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Presented by The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, this beloved event offers something for every runner—from elite marathoners to keiki lacing up for their first 5K.
This year introduces a newly designed out-and-back route along the Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) for the full marathon, half marathon, and 10K distances. The updated course is flatter and faster, with expansive ocean views along much of the route—making it a strong choice for both personal bests and scenic runs. The 5K course remains unchanged, offering a fun and family-friendly option close to the heart of Kā‘anapali.
Participants will start and finish in front of the Outrigger Kā‘anapali Beach Resort, with plenty of energy from spectators, live entertainment, and the island breeze fueling every mile. Registration is now open, with early sign-up recommended due to the event’s growing popularity.
