Danske Bank UK has hired Barry Shaw as a business development manager to help build relationships and support brokers in the South East.

Shaw joins the bank’s existing team of BDMs from West Bromwich Building Society and will be supported by the lender’s team of underwriters based in Northern Ireland.

In January, Danske, the biggest lender in Northern Ireland, entered the UK mainland market with the launch of its carbon neutral mortgage through brokers registered with the Mortgage Advice Bureau.

The product is currently available to homes in the South East, South West and East of England with an energy performance certificate ranging from A to C.

Last month, the bank said it would expand its carbon neutral mortgage range in England to flats and apartments, including new builds, up to a maximum of 85% loan to value.

Danske Bank UK head of GB Mortgages Patrick Mullan says: “Barry brings significant experience and knowledge of the market and we’re delighted to welcome Barry to the team as we expand our broker distribution base and profile in the market.”

Shaw adds: “When I heard about the opportunity to join a company that was launching a certified carbon neutral proposition in the GB market I was interested straight away. It’s an exciting time to join Danske as they continue to build broker relationships and continue to grow their presence in the market.

“I’ve been a BDM in the South East for many years and hope that my experience and knowledge of the market will add value to a great team who are really starting to build a presence in the market.”
