Simply Conveyancing has appointed Alan Young as its chief executive “effective immediately,” replacing former head Doug Crawford.

Young joined the residential conveyancing services firm as chief commercial officer in July from L&C Mortgages where he was chief executive.

He led the broker for just under two years, leaving in March.

Simply Conveyancing, backed by private equity investor Livingbridge, employs 300 staff with offices across England and Wales.

Livingbridge partner Adam Holloway says: “Alan has an outstanding track record of driving growth and developing new markets and is an excellent cultural fit for the business.”

Prior to taking on the L&C Mortgages role, Young was the founder and managing director of conveyancing and survey panel management business, Optimus, for four years. This business was sold to Landmark Information Group in 2019.

During his career he also spent two years as chief commercial officer at John Charcol and worked for ULS Technology for seven years, leaving as business development director.

Crawford joined the conveyancing firm in March 2023 as chief executive from small business professional service firm Optionis Group, where he was also chief executive.

Young adds: “I am honoured to build on the formidable foundations put in place by Doug Crawford and the talented team here at Simply.

“I look forward to leading the company and its amazing group of people to its next stage of growth and innovation at this transformative time in our industry.”
