Somo Bridging has hired Andrew Marsland as its relationship director for Wales.

The specialist lender says Marsland will split his time between office-based work in Manchester and meetings with brokers in the Principality.

He will advise on the firm’s short-term lending portfolio, which includes valuation-only and second charge products.

Marsland’s previous role was at Positive Lending, where he worked for almost two years, leaving as regional account manager.

Overall, he has over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry, working across mortgages, underwriting, business development and sales.

He has previously worked at Evolution Money, Together and Aldermore Bank.

Marsland says that his new post gives him “the freedom to find ways to offer deals that don’t fit the standard lending criteria.

“This means we can look at each individual situation, talk through the options with brokers and if it’s safe and viable, make an offer”.

Last month, Somo became a patron lender of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers, an independent trade body for commercial finance brokers.
