Meatballs have taken a back seat to spaghetti for far too long. Thankfully, the introduction of National Meatball Day has settled that score. Celebrated annually on March 9th. this unofficial holiday is the perfect day to celebrate the little balls of meat. So, whether you like meatballs on your spaghetti, love Swedish meatballs, or enjoy a tasty meatball sub then this holiday might just be the one that you want to celebrate.

Slip into the juiciest day of the year for carnivores at Josie's Ristorante located at 650 East Woolbright Road, Boynton Beach. On National Meatball Day, Wednesday, March 9, the family-owned, Italian hotspot, will treat guests to mouthwatering, $5 prime short rib meatballs crowned with homemade tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, fresh basil, and crusty, grilled ciabatta bread. Snag a seat at the bar and enjoy happy hour revelry between 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm and again at 9:00 pm-close, with $5 wines by the glass, $3.50 bottled beers, or opt for one of thirteen imaginative cocktails for $8.50 each.

Meatballs were first created around the second century B.C in China. From there, it is believed that the meatball moved across trade routes to Europe. While many people think that meatballs came to the United States from Italy, that is not the case. Spaghetti and meatballs were an invention of Italian Americans. Later, these Italian Americans would then introduce meatballs to Italy.
