Just Mortgages has appointed Andy Cuthbert as the Midlands sales manager for its self-employed division.

Cuthbert will work with 30 self-employed brokers across the region, helping them grow their businesses as well as providing compliance support.

Just Mortgages currently employs more than 600 mortgage advisers working on either an employed or self-employed basis, but plans to boost its self-employed unit to 500 advisers later this year.

Earlier this year the brokerage hired five new regional directors to manage this expansion.

Just Mortgages national director Carl Parker says: “Since launching the self-employed division, our aim has been to provide our advisers with the necessary infrastructure around them to make a real success of it.

“By expanding our team and increasing the knowledge base within the division, not only can we continue that principle but we can be more targeted in the level of support we provide.”

Cuthbert previously worked for mortgage broker Smart Advice Financial Solutions for just over four-and-a-half years, leaving as group sales director in January.

Over a 30-year career in the industry, he has worked as managing director of Dot Financial Services, as divisional mortgage services director for Connells Group and previously worked for Just Mortgages as financial services sales director for just under three-and-a-half years, leaving in December 2013.

His first job in the industry was with Crown Financial Management, leaving as a customer services supervisor after seven years in October 1993.

Cuthbert says: “The change in the business over the last ten years has been amazing, with the launch and massive expansion of the self-employed division. The team is clear in its ambitions to expand the division and I am thrilled to be playing my part in that.”
