HLPartnership has hired Adam Smith in the newly-created role of operations director at the broker network.

Smith joins from international insurance consultancy Gallagher, where he was also operations director in its UK retail division.

Prior to that, he spent ten years at Northern Rock running business development teams working as well as two years at Legal & General as head of intermediary accounts, before spending over seven years at Police Mutual, where he initially led its whole of market mortgage & protection advice service before becoming head of group operations.

HLPartnership chief executive Christopher Tanner says: “HLP is growing and Adam’s appointment will bring greater focus to our growth strategy along with the ability to coordinate separate departments’ efforts to better meet the needs of the business.

“Adam’s comprehensive experience of both sides of our industry uniquely positions him to add tremendous value to our team.

“Adam’s expertise will undoubtedly help us enhance our operational efficiencies and support the delivery of HLPartnership’s new integrated technology platform.”

Smith adds: “Having worked extensively on either side of the industry, I have a deep appreciation for the importance of strong relationships, a winning proposition and working collaboratively to deliver efficient and effective operations that power growth.”
