Sancus Lending has hired Steve Thompson as relationship director, bolstering its national origination team.

The specialist firm says Thompson (pictured) will focus on new business around development finance and bridging loans, as well as “building long-term relationships with key external stakeholders”.

He will “work closely” with managing director Andrew Charnley.

Thompson has 20 years of experience in the financial services and specialist lending sector, most recently at West One as a portfolio manager, originating and managing development finance transactions from initial structuring through to completion and repayment.

His earlier career includes senior lending roles in banks, including OakNorth & Metro Bank, as well as a debt advisory position at Peritus, giving him deep insight into both lender and borrower perspectives.

Charnley says: “Steve’s experience across origination, portfolio management, and advisory makes him an excellent addition to the team.

“His understanding of the full development lifecycle and ability to build trusted relationships will be invaluable as we continue to expand our development finance proposition and deliver a service-led approach to lending.”

Thompson adds: “My career has always been focused on helping real estate borrowers navigate the funding process and deliver successful schemes, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to grow our presence and build strong, lasting relationships in the market.”
