A Perfect Taste of Something New

For a blast of flavor, a bite of paradise, and a tingle of spice, look no further. Our food journey has brought us to one of the newest food trucks in town and this did not disappoint. The new Shimshon Food Truck, featuring Israeli street food in the Mid Town Yacht Club, was such a wonderful taste experience that we highly recommend it if you are looking for something with a totally different flavor profile.

When we arrived at the Yacht Club, we instantly spotted where we were to have lunch. The truck was so wonderfully decorated with brightly colored pomegranates and a fun two tone paint job. We appreciated the simple menu and explanations of what the sauces were on the menu board. Needless to say, we wanted to try a few different items and each was excellent.

First we ordered the Shimshon Bowl with Chicken Shawarma, Zhug and Toume sauces, and Za'atar Fries. The bowl was wonderfully layered with hummus, an Israeli salad, labneh, pickles, arugula, olive oil and paprika. This combination had a wonderful acidity that balanced the richness of the hummus and chicken so well. We also ordered the Falafel sandwich which featured a super fluffy pita packed with greens, Tahina, Israeli salad, falafel, harissa, and pickles. Wow did that sandwich pack a punch! With a nice heat to it, acidity from the pickles, and coolness from the salad, we highly recommend this sandwich to anyone who is looking for an amazing, filling meal. Of course, we had to try the Bamba snack for a little sweet bite. This peanut butter puff snack bag was a great way to finish off our lunch with a slightly sweet, slightly savory flavor that had us wanting more.

Our overall impression of Shimshon is that it is a must try for the avid food enthusiast. It has a flavor profile that is not common for the area but is delicious. We hope to be back soon for more!
