In the midst of this crisis, we are relieved to report that all agents and staff at Island Sotheby's International Realty are safe though we have all been greatly affected by the profound loss of life and community. This first (almost) week now, it has been all hands on deck to coordinate aid and supplies to the affected areas and to disseminate accurate and useful information to our associates, friends, and clients. Latest news about the Maui Wildfire Disaster

August 14th: Due to overwhelming demand from non-essential individuals and non-Maui residents, the Maui Police Department on Monday suspended the placard program for travel into West Maui. Police said the suspension is until further notice.

For those directly affected by the fire:

Seeking Shelter. These are the current shelter locations, once you have temporary shelter sign up for the Hawaiʻi Fire Relief Housing program which will assist in connecting those in urgent need of housing due to the Maui fires, with Hawaiʻi homeowners willing to assist by offering unoccupied rooms, units or houses on a temporary basis. 

Offering Shelter.  Please register on the Hawaiʻi Fire Relief Housing program website and Airbnb.org if you have a room, unit, or home to offer for displaced individuals and families.

File a claim with your insurance.  Whether you have homeowners or renters insurance, they should be able to get a check to you right away for immediate expenses. In addition, the policy will generally cover temporary shelter for a few months or up to 2 years.

Register with FEMA for disaster assistance. If you don't have insurance, or once you have already filed a claim with your insurance go to DisasterAssistance.gov to register for federal assistance.
