Empanadas in the Barrio West Palm Beach

In celebration of National Empanada Day, which falls on April 8, 2022, it is the perfect excuse to try one if you have not yet. Barrio is a covered outdoor experience with food and drink based on classic Latin neighborhood street food and a full bar that celebrates craft cocktail elements from your favorite tropical Latin destinations. The neighborhood café is in The Square at 700 South Rosemary Avenue, Second Floor, in West Palm Beach.

Barrio’s executive chef Rolando Anoceto will roll out his street food-inspired beer braised empanadas ($11) stuffed with dry-aged Spanish chorizo, house-cured Manchego, and drizzled with smoked sweet pepper aioli.

A beloved culinary treasure in Latin America and Spain, empanadas are easy-to-eat pastries layered with meats, vegetables, and cheese. Tracing back to ancient Persia, the crescent-shaped empanadas (Spanish for "to wrap in bread") takes its ancestral cues from the samosa, a triangular treat loaded with spiced beef, peas, and potatoes.

Snag a seat at Barrio's plein air bar and enjoy $2 off Happy Hour drinks from 4-7 p.m. daily.
