The Cumberland building society has appointed David Robinson to the role of head of intermediary lending as the lender looks to develop its broker distribution.

Robinson is well known in the mortgage industry, having held key roles at Accord Mortgages for 14 years, including that of national intermediary sales manager.

He left Accord in 2018 for a role at Shawbrook Bank as sales director, a position he departed in July 2019 after the lender’s restructure.

The Cumberland says Robinson has a wealth of experience across the intermediary market that will enable him to establish the lender’s own intermediary strategy and build on its relationships with existing distribution partners.

Robinson says: “I’m really excited to be able to bring my experience and long-standing trusted industry relationships to this new role and am thrilled with the opportunity to grow and develop a strong intermediary proposition for The Cumberland, building on its enduring reputation in the lending industry.

The Cumberland chief customer officer Alex Windle says: “[David] brings an extensive knowledge of the market and will be central to our exciting growth plans for The Cumberland’s intermediary function.”
