The Cultural Council of the Palm Beaches was established to aid in satisfying the necessity for art and cultural experiences in Palm Beach County. The Council offers a statement of cultural equality.  It states, “We believe that everyone has cultural traditions that are inherently valuable. We seek to honor and value creative expression of all people through the work of the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. Creating an art-filled community means seeing, celebrating, and serving all. Cultural equity is essential to a sustainable arts and cultural sector and a vibrant and thriving community.”

Standing firm behind that statement, the Cultural Council of the Palm Beaches has a building along South “L” Street, Lake Worth where you will find the Council’s Project Space.  Project Space is used for activities, sculptures or other on site-specific installations.  The structure along South “L” Street offers an impressive view of a giant, colorful  Martin Luther King, Jr. mural on the south side of the Cultural Council’s headquarters.

This mural was created in 2017 during CANVAS Outdooor Museum by Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra, who is known for his colorful, photorealistic murals. The Cultural Council chose Martin Luther King, Jr. as the subject of the mural because “he represents the important ideas of heroism, community resilience, and the power to make positive change.”

February is Black History Month, head over to the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County Project Space and see the impressive mural of a very impressive human.
