Valentine's day is coming up, and whether you don't care, or you have a special someone you'd like to impress, dinner dates aren't always very exciting. Here are a few different Valentine's Day date ideas that are sure to make you stand out from the crowd.

Dog Day at the Beach

Let’s be honest with each other- good people love dogs. What better way to find out if your valentine has a heart of gold than by playing with puppies on the beach? Bring your own well-behaved dog, or just go to Jupiter’s Dog Beach! There are always so many playful pooches there that it’s usually not too weird if you say hi to a few. For an extra touch, pack a meal for your sweetheart and a few dog treats!

Adopt a Turtle at Loggerhead Marinelife Center

Matching tattoos = NOT CUTE. Adopting a turtle together = SUPER CUTE! Show up at Loggerheard Marinelife Center in Juno Beach and you can spend some time with some pretty adorable marine animals! Adopting a turtle is a great way to give back, and you’ll even be able to check up on your new adopted “child” throughout their rehabilitation. Imagine getting to watch Loggerhead release your healthy sea turtle back into the wild months down the line all because of you!

Go Golfing

Whether you’re more comfortable playing putt putt, or you prefer to go full-blown Billy Madison in the fresh air, there are over 80 golf courses near Jupiter. If you want to mix it up, you can even take your date to Drive Shack in West Palm Beach to be wowed by a three-story entertainment center of interactive golf, drinks, food, and games.

Go Clay Shooting

Shooting clays really gets the blood pumping and is probably the most fun you’ll have in an organized environment. South Florida Shooting Club is conveniently located just a short 45 minute drive from West Palm Beach. They feature 8 trap fields under stadium lights, 4 fully automated sporting clay courses with 15 stations on each, 2 skeet fields, and much more. With diverse levels of difficulty, the club caters to the needs of all levels of shooters. Bring your date here, and they’ll be talking about it for weeks!

Experience Blowing Rocks

Blowing Rocks Preserve in Hobe Sound is quite honestly one of the most unique beaches in Florida. Coquina limestone forms huge rock formations dating back more than 2.6 million years old, and this area is so pristine and unspoiled that it is enchanting to soak in. Take your date during high tide (remind them to wear a swimsuit), and stand by the rocks for an exciting natural geyser show as the waves shoot up from below. It will undoubtedly be unforgettable.

Romantic Sunsets at Jupiter Lighthouse

The Jupiter Lighthouse is the most beautiful spot to watch the sunset in South Florida. After climbing a (literally) breathtaking 105 steps up this historic landmark, you’ll get to take in spectacular views of oranges, yellows, reds, and purples as the sun sinks into the horizon. Following darkness, you’ll also witness the Jupiter light turning on to illuminate the night sky. Don’t take a date here unless they’re really someone special, because they might just fall in love with you!

Go Paddleboarding

For the active couple, paddleboarding around the Jupiter Inlet can be very relaxing and romantic. There’s nothing like taking in the salt air and exploring the diverse marine ecosystem together, and it’s pretty easy to rent a paddleboard if you don’t have your own. Ask Blueline about their guided tours if you aren’t too keen on exploring on your own.

Go Kayaking

If stand-up paddleboarding is a bit much, but you love the fresh air, kayaking is a close second to give a shot. Riverbend is the best place to get your paddle on if you are uneasy about being on the intracoastal because you can slowly make your way through the shallow river in the peace of a natural preserve. Freshwater critters include turtles, rabbits, and beautiful birds. This is a great place to have a picnic as well!

Go Fishing

Ok, I may be biased on this one, but fishing is a great way to get to know someone. You find out if they have patience, if they are into learning new things, if they love the ocean, and so much more. Whether you want to go offshore, or you'd rather stay inshore for a lighter day, here are some we reccomend. It's probably best to already know your date well before heading out fishing with them - there's nothing worse than feeling "stuck" on a boat with someone.
