The Building Societies Association has appointed Debbie Enever as head of external affairs.
The body says Enever will press the case for the “BSA’s members and wider financial mutuals [as being] a key part of the UK’s current and future financial services sector”.
Enever joins from the Financial Ombudsman Service, where she was head of external relations, and spent the last nine months on secondment to the Financial Conduct Authority.
She has previously worked for the Liberal Democrat Party and has over twenty years of experience in policy and communications roles.
Enever take up her new post on 1 September, succeeding Hilary McVitty, who held the role at the trade body for 12 years until her retirement last month.
Building Societies Association chief executive Robin Fieth says: “Her [Enever] skills and expertise will be of great value in leading our external relations strategy, and I’m very much looking forward to working with her.”
The association’s new head of external affairs adds: “I’ve always been a supporter and advocate of the mutual model and am particularly looking forward to enthusiastically promoting it through the media, to political audiences and with other key opinion formers.”
