HSBC has appointed Oli O’Donoghue as head of mortgages at the high street lender.

O’Donoghue was previously managing director – branch network – wealth and personal banking at the business she joined seven years ago, which has seen her work in a variety of roles.

She has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, including nine years at Barclays Bank, leaving as national performance director – mortgages in 2017.

At HSBC, the role of head of mortgages had been filled on an interim basis “for a period of time”.

O’Donoghue says: “Over the last ten years, HSBC UK’s mortgage business has been transformed from a direct-only provider to one where the vast majority of our mortgage business is being done through brokers, with significant growth in the amount we lend and our market share.”

O’Donoghue was awarded an MBE for services to diversity in the financial services sector in the King’s New Year’s Honours list last year, following her involvement in efforts to drive inclusion within the industry for over two decades.
