Virgin Money has promoted Richard Walker to head of intermediary sales.

Walker will oversee a sales team who are responsible for selling both Virgin Money and Clydesdale mortgage brands.

Walker was most recently Virgin Money’s regional manager for the South and London and before that was head of intermediary proposition & new build.

He joined the firm in 2013 and has over 20 year’s experience in the intermediary and mortgage market.

Prior to Virgin Money, he spent just under four years at the NatWest Group, leaving as a senior corporate manager for NatWest Intermediary Solutions.

Before that, he spent just under a year as a national sales manager for First Active Mortgages.

Virgin Money head of customer acquisition Sarah Green says: “It’s great news that we can announce that Richard Walker will be heading up Virgin Money’s Intermediary team.

“Richard brings a wealth of experience to the role and will play a key role in our mortgage journey.”

The Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank Group bought Virgin Money for £1.7bn in 2018, and the following year began the process of rebranding the enlarged banking firm, which has over six million customers, as Virgin Money.
