The 56th Annual Makawao Parade kicks off with the Keiki Stick Horse Race at 8:00 AM. Kī hō`alu 2024 - Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival

The 33rd Annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival showcases some of Hawai‘i’s finest slack key guitar artists. The event is free to attend and this year’s lineup includes Darrell Aquino, Kevin Brown & Friends, Stephen Inglis, Ledward Kaapana, Kamuela Kahoano, Dwight Kanae, Kahiau Lam-Ho, Ian Osullivan, Anthony Pfluke, LT Smooth, Namaka Cosma White, and more! Kī hō`alu, meaning “loosen the key,” is a unique guitar tuning technique rooted in the 19th century paniolo tradition. Recognized globally, slack key guitar is celebrated for its distinctive acoustic style, once earning a dedicated Grammy category.
