Pepper Money offers BTL landlords free EPC survey | Mortgage Strategy

Pepper Money is offering buy-to-let borrowers a free energy efficiency survey, which provides an EPC certificate alongside an action plan on how to improve this rating.

This offer is available to all existing Pepper Money customers who have a buy-to-let mortgage in their individual name. This will exclude those who have bought a BTL property through a company structure.

This follows a similar initiative in February for Pepper’s residential customers. Pepper says this resulted in hundreds of customers claiming this free survey and EPC certificate.

Pepper said this move is part of its commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) driven lending. This saw Pepper improve its criteria to remove restrictions around properties with solar panel in January. It also launched a partnership with Ecologi last year, and will provide ongoing financial support to the organisation to fund its tree planting and carbon reduction activities.

Laurence Morey, CEO at Pepper Money, says: “In the coming years, buy-to-let landlords will have a responsibility to ensure that their properties meet a minimum EPC rating of C and we are really pleased to be able to launch this initiative that offers them some help in achieving that.”
