Former FSA banking boss Katharine Braddick is set to play a key role as talks over the City’s post-Brexit future swing into action.

The Mail on Sunday reports that plans on the future of British financial services within the EU will be hammered out in “urgent” discussions kicking off this week.

A “memorandum of understanding” on how the City is treated is due to be thrashed out in quick fashion, with a deadline of March already set, according to the paper.

City lobby groups are set to be called in to meetings which could also feature senior Bank of England officials, potentially including governor Andrew Bailey himself.

However, Braddick will be leading the talks alongside City minister John Glen, the paper reports.

Currently serving as the Treasury’s director general of financial services, Braddick was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the 2019 New Years Honours list.

She replaced Charles Roxburgh, who was the Treasury’s lead on the Financial Advice Market Review, in the post in 2016.

Earlier in her career, Braddick was head of general insurance regulation at the Association of British Insurers, before moving to the FSA and then sister watchdog the Prudential Regulation Authority.

She held her role at FSA, where she was head of banking policy, for more than a decade.
