Somo has expanded its team by hiring a relationship director and two underwriters. 

The specialist bridging lender has added James Brocklebank as a relationship director for the Midlands and East — who is tasked with meeting brokers, new partners and developers to ensure that they are up to date with the firm’s products, processes and promotions.   

Brocklebank’s appointment brings the lender’s sales team to 14. 

He previously worked at GetGround as head of buy-to-let marketplace & GetProperty for just under a year, leaving last December. 

Prior to that, he worked for two years at Dicio Finance, which he co-founded and helped lead as managing director, leaving last year. 

He began his career as a personal banking advisor at Santander in 2012. 

Brocklebank says: “Somo’s ability to offer competitive interest rates, structure deals to suit the borrower and tenaciously find solutions that other lenders can’t, should give me an advantage in what is an increasingly competitive and crowded market.” 

The business has also hired Salman Ali and Harvey Wood as underwriters, bringing this department to 12, under underwriting director Rob Johnson.
