Boxwood Kitchen in Bend's Old Mill District is Sure to Delight

Being the foodies we are, we really enjoy finding restaurants that are off the beaten path. One such restaurant we recently enjoyed was Boxwood Kitchen. Although located in the Old Mill District, this dining experience will not be found on the main road but rather was tucked in behind Naked Winery and Jimmy Johns. 

We have visited Boxwood on several occasions since they opened their doors last year and their wonderful dishes have yet to disappoint. On our most recent visit we were able to enjoy an intimate setting with some close friends and really take the "Supperclub" name to heart. We were able to enjoy a nice leisurely dinner with plenty of good food, drinks and even some laughs with our server. 

We began our meal with their Chicken Tikka Masala Meatballs. We didn't get a photo of this wonderful appetizer as it was devoured before we even had a chance to snap a picture. The sauces on this dish played perfectly with the dense chicken meatball. It was a great start to our meal.

When we moved onto our entrees, our choices could not have been more different. One of the several entrees we tried was the Chicken Schnitzel. This lightly breaded schnitzel was fried to perfection and was so juicy on the inside. This dish was paired perfectly with a wonderful spatzle that was light and creamy and made us wish there was more on the plate. In addition, the chefs added a smoked pepper and tomato sauce to round out this dish with so many elements that we all voted this one the fan favorite of the night. 

How could we possibly leave Boxwood that evening without trying their 20 oz Bone in Ribeye? This dish literally filled the plate with a juicy, delectable steak that was cooked to medium rare and served with a grilled scallion compound butter. Every bite of this dish was mouth watering and we ate every bit. Even the side dish of smashed potatoes, romesco and broccolini was devoured. 

Finally, the true and classic burger was the final entree of the evening. This burger gave a slight hint of spice from the chipotle aioli, a bit of sweet from the bacon jam, a bit of salty from the aged cheddar, and a bit of tart from the home made pickles. Paired with a good helping of hand cut fries, this burger was wonderfully balanced and a taste to be appreciated. 

Would we go back to Boxwood? ABSOLUTELY! We cannot wait to try some new dishes as they continue to develop their menu!
