The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter’s (MIMHC) 125-mile ‘Walk & Talk’ hike from the West Midlands to London has raised more than £6,000 for the Young Minds charity.

The walk was led by the founder of the charter Jason Berry, and industry stalwart Jonathan White, both of whom walked the entire route over a five-day period.

More than 20 participants from across the sector completed different legs of the journey, which was created to promote physical activity and better communication as ways to boost emotional and psychological wellbeing.

MIMHC was established to create a culture of openness and compassion surrounding mental health for all mortgage professionals through greater understanding, discussion and support.

The walk began at the headquarters of Crystal Specialist Finance in Tamworth and ended at HSBC’s offices in Canary Wharf on Friday, May 17.

Berry, who is also group sales director at Crystal Specialist Finance says: “We’ve braved blisters and the full force of unpredictable weather to ensure we shine a light on mental health for those working in the mortgage sector.”

White adds: “In addition to raising awareness of the importance of physical activity for mental wellbeing, it was fantastic to raise so much money for Young Minds, which is dedicated to ensuring every young person gets the mental health support they need, when they need it.”

The MIMHC is still accepting donation until the end of this week, with can be made by following this link.
