Pepper Money is rolling out an academy to boost the effectiveness of brokers in the second charge mortgage market.

The specialist lender says its Pepper Academy “will support brokers by providing training on the most effective ways to package and submit second charge mortgage applications” so they will be able to “benefit from smoother processing and ultimately improve customer outcomes”.

The course will cover income requirements, calculating utility costs and interpreting bank statements, and has been piloted by brokers at Fluent Money.

Fluent Money managing director Chris Meadows says: “We have implemented a dedicated team of Pepper case managers at Fluent Money. The academy will ensure they produce the highest quality of packs to deliver the best possible service to our customers.”

Pepper Money head of sales, second charge mortgages Tom Whitney adds: “The Pepper Academy is one of several initiatives we are rolling out to work more closely with brokers, helping them to help more customers.”
