Nationwide has made a similar plea to brokers regarding the chasing of mortgage applications as Halifax did earlier today.

In a note to brokers, Nationwide says that because only a third of its staff is working in its offices and the necessity for additional underwriting, service is slower than it would be usually.

It asks that brokers check service standards, which are updated on a daily basis in the afternoon, before contacting the lender, adding that no contact should be made at all within the first 11 working days for cases Nationwide and within 10 working days for The Mortgage Works.

The note says that eight working days are needed for the assessment of additional documents sent, and that valuations are booked within 10 working days.

‘Top tips’ provided by the lender include a request to not drip feed documents and instead upload them all on the same day, and to not progress a decision in principle refer to a full mortgage application without waiting for the initial acceptance.
