Rachel Maclean has moved into a ministerial role in the department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities after housing minister Lucy Frazer was moved on as housing minster as part of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s cabinet shuffle.
Frazer served in the role for three months, having replaced Lee Rowley, who worked as housing minister for 48 days, who himself replaced Marcus Jones, who filled the role for 63 days.
The latest move means that Maclean, who represents Redditch, will likely become the fifteenth housing minister in 12 years and the sixth within the past year.
“Delighted to be appointed as Minister in [the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities department]. Looking forward to a new challenge, tackling one of the defining issues the government faces. I start now!,” Maclean posted on her Twitter account.
The cabinet shuffle also saw the creation of a new government arm – the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, which will be headed by Grant Shapps.
