Outdoor Adventures in Palm Beach County to Try:

Cypress Creek Natural Area

The Jeaga Wildways, is a system of multi-use trails that connects 165,000 acres of public land in northwestern Palm Beach County. The trails are often used by walkers, hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians to explore some of the area’s most scenic natural trails. The Cypress Creek South Natural Area connects to Jupiter’s Riverbend Park where you can explore more than 15 miles of hard-packed shell trails.

Frenchman’s Forest Natural Area

The 158-acres natural area located along Prosperity Farms Road in Palm Beach Gardens feature 1.5 miles of trails that helps to protect mangroves, live oak, slash pine, and cypress habitats. Along the way be sure to stop by the covered observation platform to view the mangrove forest planted by volunteers almost two decades ago. Be sure to stop by the kiosk and grab a map for those looking to hike throughout several other trails in the natural area.

Snook Islands Natural Area in Lake Worth Lagoon

The islands span more than 20 miles from North Palm Beach to Ocean Ridge. Lake Worth Lagoon is Palm Beach County’s largest estuary. The ocean water flows through the inlets and mixes with freshwater from the canals. The mixture creates a critical habitat for a wide variety of animals and plants. The islands are home to 11 acres of mangroves, 3 acres of salt marsh grass, and 2 acres of oyster beds. The Natural Area is a great place to kayak or paddle out to and during the winter and spring months, manatees and sea turtles are often spotted.
