A Community United in Remembrance

The Wellington 9/11 remembrance ceremony is an open invitation to all community members. It is a moment for neighbors, friends, and families to come together and stand in solidarity, reflecting on the impact of the September 11 attacks. It is an opportunity to remember the lives lost and the countless heroes who emerged from that day's darkness.

The heart of this ceremony lies in the touching gestures of remembrance. The Village Council will lead the community in collective reflection, sharing their thoughts and paying their respects. They will also lay a memorial wreath to honor the memory of those who perished in the attacks, ensuring that their sacrifice is never forgotten.

Members of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue will be present, showcasing their unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the community. Additionally, the New York Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 3100, will join the gathering, symbolizing the unity and support that transcends geographical boundaries in times of tragedy.

The Wellington Patriot Memorial, dedicated on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, stands as a powerful symbol of remembrance and resilience. At its heart, it holds one of the largest steel beams salvaged from the World Trade Center. An eternal flame fountain burns brightly, representing the enduring spirit of the victims and the nation. Etched glass panels inscribed with the names of the victims ensure that their identities are forever preserved, and their stories never fade.
