Tenet Group has hired Anthony Sheard as head of learning and development to boost support for the continued professional development of its brokers.

The broker network says Sheard will be responsible for overseeing all learning and development services for advisers, to equip “them with the tools, technology, and support they need for professional growth and serving their clients”.

It adds Sheard will work across its network services members, directly authorised independent financial advisers advised by Tenet Compliance Services, and its owned advice offering, Tenet&You.

Sheard joins from HSBC, where he worked as global coaching and development manager since 2017. Before this, he held other management roles at the banks, including quality manager (Middle East and North Africa) and business risk manager. He also has held learning and development positions at First Direct, the lender’s online unit.

The network says Sheard’s appointment comes ahead of the launch of its revamped, digital learning and development portal “later this year”.

Tenet Group chief executive Mark Scanlon says: “The value of quality financial advice has never been higher, and our continued investment in continued professional development is essential to help advisers provide the very best services and advice for their clients. Anthony brings a wealth of experience from his various development roles within the financial services sector.”

Tenet Group’ Sheard adds: “Tenet is a forward-thinking business that always has the professional growth of its advisers front of mind and understands its link to delivering high-quality advice.”

In January, Mortgage Strategy’s sister title Money Marketing reported that adviser members were leaving the network in droves, amid complaints about technology and system issues.

It said a total of 36 appointed representative firms had left the network in less than two months from its Tenet Lime (mortgage adviser network), Tenet Connect (financial adviser network) and Tenet Connect Services.

A spokesperson for Tenet told Money Marketing at the time the network is seeing “excellent levels” of customer usage with the Intelliflo Office software system.
