Today, Martin County leaders will meet up and discuss the county’s next steps in reopening. County Commissioners are holding a meeting this morning at the Blake Library in downtown Stuart. 

The meeting today will review the state guidelines that Governor DeSantis laid out earlier this week about Florida’s plan to reopen in phases. The County Commissioners are currently meeting to make the best decision for the Martin County residents. 

The County can decide whether or not to participate the Governor’s Phase One Reopening Plan, which allows retail shops to open at 25% capacity.  Also included in Phase One is restaurants can do outdoor seating with social distancing and indoor seating with 25% capacity.  All salons, gyms and movie theaters will remain closed in Phase One of reopening Florida.

Nearby counties, St. Lucie County and Okeechobee County have already agreed to participate in Phase One. Indian River County leaders have still to make an announcement on the issue. However, Counties are allowed to create and tighten restrictions than what the Governor announced earlier this week. 

Martin County leaders will also discuss opening the beaches for the public to use with social distancing and restrictions like St. Lucie County and Indian River County did earlier this week. 

If Martin County Commissioners agree, some businesses will be allowed to open their doors Monday with restrictions.  To read about the complete list of Phase One, click here. 

Palm Beach County beaches still remain closed and Palm Beach County, Broward County and Miami Dade County are not included in Phase One in the Governor’s plan to reopen Florida.
