Twenty7Tec has appointed Mike Clifford to its board as chief operating officer, just days after announcing its acquisition of Bluecoat Software.

The digital technology mortgage firm says Clifford has “significant experience” in the fintech sector, having previously spent ten years at Intelliflo, where he worked in a variety of roles including chief operating officer and chief customer officer at the company, which offers customer relationship management solutions to the advisory market.

More recently, Clifford has acted as non-executive director of Batsoft, a business which offers automated compliance tools for the retail financial services industry, including independent financial advisors, mortgage brokers and fund managers.

Twenty7Tec chief executive James Tucker says: “Mike is going to play a big role in our move into the wealth sector, with his extensive experience in fintech and adviser tech. The wealth sector is ripe for transformation as audiences demand better ranges of products, greater transparency behind decisions and recommendations and more timely advice.

“We will listen, we will learn, and we will deliver in the wealth space just as we have done, and will continue to do, in the mortgage space.”

Mike said: “I’m ready to help Twenty7Tec in its mission to deliver transformational change and remove the key challenges for advisers and customers in both markets. They’ve had huge success in the mortgage sector and I’m confident they can repeat this in the wealth sector.

“Ever since seeing how they shook up the mortgage industry, I’ve been excited to see what they’re going to do next and now I get to be part of that project.”

Last week, Twenty7Tec acquired Bluecoat Software, the provider of mortgage, protection and wealth management CRM solution Finplan.

As part of the acquisition, Bluecoat Software will operate under the Twenty7Tec brand. The combined business, which has almost 100 employees, will be led by Twenty7Tec chief executive Tucker.

Bluecoat Software’s former chief executive Mark Skelding joins the Twenty7Tec Group as a non-executive director.
