The day, launched in 1999, is designed to commemorate the positive value that men bring to the world, their families and communities.
In addition, the campaign highlights constructive role models and raises awareness of men’s health and well-being.
The theme for the 2020 campaign is, ‘Better health for men and boys’, and is encouraging men to lead by example and provide a positive male role model for boys by aspiring to better health and encouraging their children to do the same.
Clare Jupp, director of people development at The Brightstar Group, said: “We are fully committed today to marking International Men’s Day and taking this opportunity to acknowledge some of the key and very concerning issues surrounding men’s health and wellbeing.
“It goes without saying that the wellbeing and mental health of our team is hugely important to us and we know that for many people, talking about our physical and mental health can be awkward.”
The firm said that men’s health is often overlooked by men themselves and research shows that one in five men die before the age of 65.
Furthermore, the Brightstar Group will today be acknowledging the commitment and achievement of its men and the outstanding contribution that they make to the business.
International Men’s Day is now celebrated in more than 80 countries worldwide.
Jupp added: “The message today is that without talking about our health, or seeking help when we are concerned, we can become unwell.
“By starting conversations with those around us, and health professionals, we can better look after our bodies, minds and overall health.
“As an employer we promote an open, honest and non-judgmental culture where help and support is on hand wherever needed – including professional help if required.
“Sometimes it is just a chat and ear that is needed, but the most important message today is for men to look after themselves and know that help is on hand if required.”
