Directly authorised London brokerage Mesa Financial has hired Scott West as a partner.

West’s appointment takes the total number of advisers at the company to four, of which two are directors and two are partners.

The Richmond-based whole-of-market firm is focussed on high net worth borrowers and specialist lending.

Prior to joining Mesa, West spent three years as a senior mortgage consultant at Dynamo.

Before Dynamo, West worked as a paraplanner and then mortgage adviser at SFIA Ltd.

Mesa Financial was established in 2015 when James McGregor and Francisco Mesa Baya left their roles at Barclays to set up their own business.

The firm became directly authorised in 2019.

McGregor says: “Over the past two years we have set ourselves an aggressive expansion programme.

“At present conditions in the sector remain challenging and while we do not expect that to change for the remainder of 2020 we will not allow circumstances to deviate us away from our growth plans.

“I speak to many brokers who introduce business to us and so we are well placed to see which direction the industry is going.

“Experienced brokers will become more valuable in the years ahead and we want to build a business that allows them to operate within a brand that is recognised across the industry for its honesty, tenacity and technical ability.

“Scott brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the specialist lending sector and understands how to write the complex structured deals that Mesa has a reputation for.

“We’re delighted to have Scott on board and look forward to helping him develop his career for many years to come.”

West adds: “I am very excited to be joining the Mesa team and getting stuck into the weird and wonderful world of complex mortgages.

“I knew as soon as I met James and Fran that the set up at Mesa was

exactly what I was looking for in my next move – mainly a focus on building strong relationships with clients and introducers.

“I was drawn to their goal of becoming a leading brokerage as well as

their vision and ethos, both of which are innovative and refreshing.”
