More Than Just a Whiskey Bar

I’m going to share a little secret with you. Stihl Whisky Bar is the new hot spot.

In Bend, sometimes its all about brunch. This fresh menu and iconic setting will stun you. After visiting Stihl Whisky Bar for several happy hour sessions we noticed that they’d started doing Brunch! Obviously we had to go check it out and we were blown away. Not only were there some great twists of brunch classics, there also was no wait! This is Bend’s best kept secret and it wont stay that way for long.

Which dish was our favorite? That’s hard to say. Each item we ordered had stand-alone qualities that would leave any brunch goer thrilled. Lets dive into what we ordered!

The biscuits and gravy, even without eggs, is INCREDIBLE. Wow, we didn’t know you could take a classic and redefine what it should taste like. This is a dish you could literally eat everyday. Mezcal-chorizo meat adds a flavorful spice with a hint of citrus that cuts the fat profile just slightly, turning your mouth into a rainbow of flavors, so subtle and yet powerful it keeps you coming back for more. How were the biscuits? Great. Perfect dense-fluffy ratio.

We also ordered the Cheese Steak Sandwich. Stunning flavors with all components working together to create a great experience. The steak was tender but still had structure, and the cheddar cheese they used really tied everything together. Also make sure you get the sweet potato fries! I can’t rave about these enough! Prepared with excellence, and topped with Parmesan cheese and some green onions. Not a sweet potato fan? Sub out for the tater tots, not photo’d but I will personally vouch for them!

Finally we tried the Salmon Benny. The salmon patty was prepared with such grace; the seasoning did not over power that great fresh salmon flavor and created a melt in your mouth explosion. This patty was paired well with the Hollandaise sauce, onion, biscuit and importantly, arugula. I say importantly because the slight bitterness of the arugula cuts the weight of the Hollandaise sauce and egg yolk. All together powerful, well balanced, and flavorful.

The final question, should you stop here for brunch? We think so! On top of the unique, and fresh flavors of each dish, the customer service was above and beyond what you’d expect in Bend. Our server was knowledgeable, excited, friendly, and answered all our questions.

Put this place at the top of your brunch list, you won’t be disappointed.
