The iconic Breakers Resort on the beach in Palm Beach Island is a standard destination for all that visit Palm Beach County.  The luxury resort is situated on 140 plus acres of privately owned beach property in the middle of the posh island. The hotel was founded on the Atlantic Ocean in 1896. As industry and business leaders during the turn of the century started to flock to Palm Beach for holidays, the demand for lavish luxury became apparent. The opulent hotel was founded by one of America’s leading industrialists, Henry M. Flagler and he was known to have contributed to the founding of Palm Beach Island that eventually turned the island into a resort destination. The Royal Poinciana was Flagler’s first hotel on the island. It was a tiny hotel, just six stories, overlooking the Intercostal Waterway.

The hotel features an Italian Renaissance design. Unfortunately, the hotel experienced substantial two fires. The first fire was in 1903 and the second in 1925. The hotel underwent renovations after both fires. The second set of renovations was orchestrated by New York-based designers and architects Weaver and Shultze. The architects continued to build and design New York City’s iconic buildings and hotels.

The Breakers Hotel was listed in the National Registry of Historic Places in 1973 and a list of guests of Who’s Who throughout the years such as European royalty, Presidents, and Dignitaries, in addition to the extremely wealthy families such as the Vanderbilt’s, Rockefeller’s, Walt Disney, J.P. Morgan, and more.

The Breakers Hotel remains welcoming to guests from across the globe with fabulous amenities and world-class service. The beachside resort features 538 rooms, four pools, ten acclaimed restaurants, two golf courses, elegant ballrooms, family activities, twelve boutiques and shops, state of art fitness center, and a world-class luxurious salon and spa.
