The Coastal Center Florida Oceanographic  objective is to involve the community interested in marine life and coastline ecosystems by presenting interactive experiences which are encouraging and informative. Motivating the community to preserve the environment for the future. The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center located in Martin County, on 57 acres of land between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean

The employees and volunteers at the Coastal Center are passionate about what they do, they are bringing attention and care to the marine life. The touch tanks are very popular amongst the visitors. This is where sea urchins, horseshoe crabs and stingrays can be seen, touched and even fed. The sea turtle pavilion allows visitors to experience the beauty of sea turtles up close. The one of a kind, 750,000-gallon game fish lagoon is home to over 300 different animals. There are nature trails and indoor exhibits and aquariums. 

The center is home to over 4300 species of plants and animals. It opened in 1994 and has become a popular place to visit and volunteer for locals and tourists.  The site provides an excellent opportunity for education and research.
