Saffron Building Society has confirmed Tony Hall as its permanent head of mortgage sales.

This comes after veteran Hall joined the Essex-based mutual last July, taking up the post on an interim basis.

Hall has over 30 years in the financial services industry, working with intermediaries and partners.

Before joining Saffron he was sales director at the Equity Release Information Centre in Leeds for six months.

But Hall has also worked as sales and marketing director for mortgages at Secure Trust Bank, head of distribution for West Bromwich Building Society and an area sales manager for Bradford & Bingley.

During his time at the mutual, Hall has grown the sales team and led the Saffron For Intermediaries live webinar series.

Saffron chief commercial officer John Penberthy-Smith says: “When I first met Tony, I was impressed with his extensive experience and was particularly struck by his passion for a proactive, service-led mortgage sales strategy.

“Since joining us, Tony has implemented this approach with his team – which has grown over recent months – and the building society is really starting to see the benefits as we proactively engage with the intermediary community.”

Last month, Saffron bolstered its business development team, adding four new members to the department.

At the time, Hall said the additions demonstrated the firm’s “commitment to service delivery and developing long-lasting relationships with all our intermediary partners”.
