Newcastle for Intermediaries has made its lending policy more flexible for borrowers who have moved to the UK from outside Europe.

Applicants who have come here from beyond the European Economic Area will no longer need to have two years remaining on their visa, as this requirement has been reduced to just three months.

Non-EEA borrowers with either a skilled worker visa or health and care visa can also now apply for a mortgage after living here for two years.

The lender has also removed the requirement for six months’ bank statements so long as applicants pass residency checks.

Independent Mortgages Direct NE broker Gary Howe, who is on the lender’s feedback panel, says: “Overall, Newcastle’s updated mortgage policies for non-EEA nationals reflect a balanced blend of inclusivity, flexibility, and regulatory compliance.

Newcastle head of intermediary mortgages Franco Di Pietro says: “We’re always striving to maintain a competitive lending proposition and our latest criteria changes for non-EEA applicants reflect this commitment.

“The changes we’ve made will help meet the needs of customers that have a different set of requirements because of their country of origin.

“They provide brokers with a greater number of options and flexibility when sourcing the right products for clients.”
