West Coast Leads the Way with New Homebuyers

17% of American adults are considering a future home purchase, according to the recent Housing Trends Report created by the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB), with 61% of those already having moved beyond the planning stage and actively trying to purchase a home. This trend toward more active homebuyers has been increasing since the final quarter of 2019 where it stood at 43%. And, although the percentage of active buyers increased in every region across the U.S., the biggest gains were here on the west coast where the number went from 40% to 72% during the past 6 quarters. The reasons, according to the NAHB report, include super low mortgage rates, the desire for more space, and the desire to move out of the metro areas and into the suburbs.
