MFG Rated for Service 2026 The technology trailblazers

Few aspects of lenders’ service are as contentious as their use of technology. For lenders, there can be a fine line between technology that helps and technology that hinders. When working properly and used correctly, technology can be transformative, but when it goes wrong — or is outdated — it becomes a source of intense annoyance for brokers.

Lenders that have earned Top Rated or Rated status for their technology have demonstrated that they understand what brokers need, have invested in their digital offering and are using technology to make life easier for intermediaries. Once again, across all sectors, individual lender scores fluctuate significantly regarding the use of technology. A lender can excel in every other service area but still fall short in technology, and vice versa.

Mainstream lenders’ technology scores are the most consistent across the board, yet they represent the second-lowest scoring area. Almost all those Top Rated or Rated for Service overall also achieved the same rating for their technology.

Meanwhile, three mainstream lenders outside the overall Top Rated group — Foundation, Generation Home and West Brom for Intermediaries — stand out for their technology, showing that they can compete with, and in some cases outperform, some of the larger lenders.

In the specialist arena, technology has proved the weakest link.  Although scores are fairly consistent among the Top Rated and Rated overall lenders, two others — Hodge Lifetime and Metro Bank — have outshone some of their peers, both receiving a Rated accolade.

For BTL lenders, the picture is more varied. Those in the upper quartile performed better than their counterparts.

Notably, all lenders achieving Top Rated or Rated for Service overall have received the same recognition for technology, with one exception. This has paved the way for Principality Building Society to achieve Rated status for its technology — showing that effective technology isn’t reserved for just the biggest lenders

All Rated for Service data is accessed via the dashboard. To access the rankings data for each assessment area, simply select the Ranking button on the lender category of your choice. You can then re-arrange the data based upon the ranking for each assessment area to determine the best/worst-performing lender.

Factor analysis is also available for each lender category to enable benchmarking across a panel of lenders versus the average score for each assessment area. This can be filtered by broker type and case load, providing tailored benchmarks for individual brokers (max. of five lenders).
