The Financial Ombudsman Service said the number of complaints it dealt with fell to its lowest level in over a year, according to its latest quarterly data.
It handled 68,000 complaints in the first three months of its financial year, compared to 74,600 new cases in the same period a year ago, an 8.8% fall,
The body, which handles disputes between consumers and firms, says it saw “lower levels of complaints about everyday financial products, such as current accounts, credit cards and motor insurance”.
The agency says the most common home loan complaint it handled in the period concerned first charge loans, which registered 1,066 cases, 25% of which were upheld.
This was followed by buy-to-let cases, which registered 157 complaints, 23% of which were upheld.
