Help Keep Our Beaches Clean

On Saturday mornings throughout the summer, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts a Self-Guided Beach Clean Up for locals and visitors to help keep our beautiful beaches clean for the sea turtles and other marine life.

Now more than ever, the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center need your help. Beginning in March through the end of October is Sea Turtle Nesting Season, where thousands of sea turtles lay their nests on the beach in our area. Northern Palm Beach County is one of the most popular sea turtle nesting spots in the world, the main reason is the gulf stream current that bends towards Florida. During this time, the center monitors the beaches daily for new sea turtle nests.

The center sets up for the Self-Guided Beach Clean Up every Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 am. Those who wish to help participate in keeping our beautiful beaches clean can stop by the sorting station at the back of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center to pick up clean up supplies before heading to the beach. Once the bucket is full, bring the bucket back to the sorting station at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.

In other news, the Town of Jupiter has added Clean Up Stations at local parks and beach parks to help keep Jupiter clean, free of litter and debris. The project is part of Jupiter’s partnership with The Beach Bucket Foundation, whose mission is to bring awareness and community involvement to help keep our local towns, beaches, parks, and cities clean.

Waterfront Properties has joined in on the cause and has sponsored four clean up buckets available at four local parks. Those who wish to participate in the daily event can grab a bucket from the clean up station and help pick up litter and debris along the way to the beach or park. Return the bucket to the cleaning station for the next person to help. The Waterfront Properties buckets are located at Ocean Cay Park in Juno Beach, Coral Cove Park in Tequesta, The Civic Center in Jupiter, and Carlin Park in Jupiter.
