Santander has started work with Experian to trial the credit checking firm’s new work report service, which aims to simplify the vetting of income and employment information.

“The work report is a quick, simple and secure way for us to verify income and employment information by supplying your client’s personal information,” the lender tells brokers on its intermediary hub.

It adds: “This service could help us remove the need for payslips in the future for some of your clients.”

The bank says the benefits of the Experian work report are that it:

  • Verifies income, employment status and employer name

  • Provides the most up-to-date and accurate income data

  • Confirms gross and net income

  • Helps prevent fraud

The lender says that during the pilot, there will be “no change to the application journey” and brokers “will still need to provide their client’s payslips on all mortgage applications. We’ll use the Experian work report service as well to verify the information.”

But it adds that once brokers have their client’s consent, they “can opt them into the trial by selecting ‘Yes’ on their behalf on the confirmation page in Introducer Internet”.

The bank points out that this test will not affect customer marketing preferences, “and your client can opt out at any time if they change their mind”.

Brokers will need to email Santander should their client opt out of the pilot.
